Mini teach 1 & 2

As a high school student in an Intro to Ed class, I got the chance to teach a 5th grade literacy lesson. I was a little nervous, but also excited to work with younger students. I chose to teach two short passages that had some new vocabulary and graphic features like bold words and charts.

I read the passage out loud while the students followed along. We paused to talk about some of the harder words, using context clues to figure them out. The students shared what they thought the words meant, and we discussed them together.

After the vocabulary, we looked at the graphic features in the text. I asked questions to help the students understand how things like headings and charts helped explain the passage. It was fun seeing them make connections and understand the reading better.

2.1 High School Observations

I figured out that I would rather assign paper assignments over assignments on a computer or something and I also learned that the kids in Mr. Barbers 2nd period also prefer their assignments on paper. From Coach Denton I did not learn much because the day that I did my observation they had a test day but I really liked how he walked around and observed and helped his students.

2.2 Junior High Observations

While I was watching Mr. Difani's class he taught me some of the tools the teachers use on a daily basis. He taught me how go guardian, google forms, and Google classroom work and look on the teachers end which is super helpful for someone who is wanting to go into teaching. It was also a study day in class so they weren't doing much but Mr. Difani was very alert and helped every student when they needed help. I learned a lot while I was watching Coach Appleget. One thing I saw that helped the class and I would want to enforce if I had a classroom and was a teacher would be talking to the students and relating what I'm teaching to experiences that could actually happen in their life.

3.1 Elementary Observations

Introduction On Jan. 29 I was able to go to the elementary of my school district to observe some classes and get some takeaways and learn more techniques. This was probably my favorite campus that we've observed and it is definitely the grades that I would want to teach if I became a teacher. Observation #1  In my observation I was observing Mrs. swaim's 3rd grade class. I really enjoyed watching her teach and learning from her techniques and methods. One thing she told me was that the best seating chart she has used is her 2 desks together chart because the kids still get to have a buddy but they will still get their work done.
